David E. Kyvig is a Distinguished Research Professor at Northern Illinois University, and a specialist in United States history. His research interests focus on the United States Constitution in political and social context, especially in terms of constitutional amendments and recent impeachment as well as the history of ordinary people and everyday life. In addition to Daily Life in the United States, 1920-1940: How Americans Lived Through the 'Roaring Twenties' and the Great Depression, his books include Repealing National Prohibition, Nearby History: Exploring the Past Around You (with Myron A. Marty), Explicit and Authentic Acts: Amending the U.S. Constitution, 1776-1995, and,The Age of Impeachment: American Constitutional Culture Since 1960.
